CaseLuma guide

Immigration case privacy and receipt numbers

A receipt number is not the same as a full immigration file, but it can still be sensitive. CaseLuma is designed with a local-first privacy posture and clear boundaries around optional backend features.

Treat receipt numbers with care

Receipt numbers can connect to immigration case status information. Avoid posting them publicly or sending them casually.

When sharing screenshots or support messages, consider masking full receipt numbers unless the full value is necessary.

Local saved records

CaseLuma is designed so saved cases, labels, notes, reminders, and preferences stay on the device unless a feature clearly requires backend support.

Privacy lock can add Face ID or device passcode protection before showing saved receipt numbers.

Optional backend features

Live status checks and optional status alerts may involve sending receipt numbers to the CaseLuma backend so it can request status data from USCIS.

The iPhone app should not store USCIS API credentials.

FAQ

Is a receipt number private?

A receipt number can be sensitive because it may connect to case status information. It should be handled carefully.

Does CaseLuma collect biometric data?

No. Face ID or device passcode unlock is handled by iOS; CaseLuma does not collect biometric data.

Are saved cases local?

Saved cases are designed to stay on the device unless a feature, such as optional backend status alerts, clearly requires server support.
